REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR YWCA OLYMPIA’S 2018 RACIAL JUSTICE SUMMIT
SATURDAY, JUNE 9 AT SOUTH PUGET SOUND COMMUNITY COLLEGE 9:30AM
The 2018 YWCA Racial Justice Summit: Anti-Racist Accountability will offer workshops, a panel discussion, caucusing, and spoken word performances. At YWCA Olympia, we are continually faced with alarming stories of people and systems in our community harming People of Color, with no accountable action being taken. Anti-Racist Accountability requires an ever-deepening understanding of the infinite ways racism is rooted in our history, our government, our local community, our own bodies, and the ways we connect and communicate with each other. This multifaceted event will engage our community in deeper dialogue and understanding about the experiences of People of Color in Thurston County, and beyond. Caucus-based workshops will provide opportunities to explore our personal work and collective responsibility to dismantle racism in our community.
The 2018 Racial Justice Summit will provide a point of engagement for everyone: People of Color and White anti-racists of all ages, experiences, and backgrounds. We welcome those who want to talk about eliminating racism in community for the first time; seasoned allies and activists, and everyone in between.
Registration includes meals and access to activities. Childcare will also be available as will gender neutral bathrooms and wheelchair accessibility. Registration for the Racial Justice Summit is now open on the agency website (ywcaofolympia.org) and a limited number of ticket waivers are available, thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound.
