Womxn of Achievement With Special Guest Patrisse Cullors
For the 26th year, YWCA Olympia is excited to celebrate inspiring South Sound community members during our annual Womxn of Achievement Celebration on November 6th. As part of our collective work of bringing about racial and gender justice, YWCA Olympia is excited to amplify and celebrate the innovative work and inspiring visions of the 2020 Womxn of Achievement.
Meet The 2020 Honorees!
Welcoming Special Guest Patrisse Cullors: Artist, activist, educator, public speaker, and Los Angeles-native Patrisse Cullors is the Co-Founder of the Black Lives Matter Global Network and Founder of the Los Angeles-based grassroots organization Dignity and Power Now. For the last 20 years, Cullors has been on the frontlines of criminal justice reform and led Reform LA Jails’ “Yes on R” campaign, a ballot initiative that passed by a 71% landslide victory in March 2020.
Tickets: The 2020 Womxn of Achievement Celebration will be held virtually on Friday, November 6th at 6:30 pm. Please Note: Portions of this event will be available for a re-stream after the 6th, however, due to contract restrictions some of Patrisse’s talk will only be available on the evening of the live event.
Ticket Philosophy: Although Womxn of Achievement will be virtual, we are asking the community to help us generate needed donations by purchasing a ticket to attend this event, as you would if attending this event in-person. On the night of the event (November 6th), you will have the opportunity to make an additional donation if you are called to and are able to do so. Because we are selling tickets to support YWCA Olympia’s work, we are excited to “pass through” all of the night of donations directly to the 2020 Honorees, to invest in their critical work.
This means that the donations from the tickets will support YWCA Olympia and donations made the night of the event will directly support the 2020 WOA Honorees.
We want to make sure that Womxn of Achievement is accessible to all community members who want to join and celebrate alongside us. Because of this we’ve offered a tiered ticket structure that we hope increases accessibility for folx of all income levels. We also know that many individuals in our community are financially resourced and we are asking those individuals to reflect deeply on the privilege of wealth and access to financial resources and to make a commitment to using those resources to advance Racial Justice. Purchasing a ticket to Womxn of Achievement at a higher ticket price is one way of supporting that intention.
