girls without limits
CLICK TO SIGN UP FOR CAMPS! Since 1998,GirlsWithout Limits! (GWOL!) has served middle school youth by providing gender-responsive, culturally-relevant programming that promotes confidence, skill building, career awareness, and curiosity in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). Girls and gender nonconforming youth engage in hands-on learning activities, meet professionals who work in STEAM fields, and participate in project-related field trips. GWOL! currently operates as monthly Saturday camps, a week-long spring break camp, two-week-long summer camps, a winter break camp, and a high school leadership program.
Girls Without Limits! is focused on exposing middle school girls and gender nonconforming youth to a range of STEAM topics and sparking their interest to learn more! The program is promoting an increase in the number of girls and gender non-conforming youth who pursue STEAM both academically and professionally by delivering activities in fun and relevant ways, helping participants feel confident about their STEAM abilities, and linking STEAM activities to careers and professionals from underrepresented identities.
During GWOL! camps, participants have learned computer programming using Hour of Code, Sonic Pi, and Scratch. They explored video game design with the Gamefroot game builder, learned robotics by building and programming LEGO EV3 robots, studied biology by extracting DNA from fruit, and so much more! Ultimately, the program aims to prepare girls and gender nonconforming youth to enter prominent STEAM industries and to advance the overall professional, economic, and social status of women.
