MARCH 15, 2019: YWCA Olympia & The Thurston County Food Bank Announce Transition of the Other Bank!
It’s about dignity and good health. The Other Bank, located at 220 Union Avenue SE in Olympia, provides toiletries such as shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, diapers, and menstrual supplies to those in need. We also offer necessities of daily living such as dish soap, laundry detergent, and
hand soap. Products distributed by The Other Bank cannot be purchased with food stamps and are not available at food banks; yet they are essential for maintaining health and personal dignity. The Other Bank offers assistance to over 13,000 individuals every year. One-third of our clients are younger than 13 and half of these children are under the age of 5. Our clients are also elderly, disabled, homeless, unemployed, or are just struggling the make ends meet and would have to go without these items if we did not have them available. Our supply of personal hygiene and household cleaning products are donated almost entirely by churches, schools, government agencies, businesses, service clubs, and individuals. Product donations come from large ongoing product drives or simply a one-day collection; our inventory depends on the generosity of each and every donation no matter how small or large.
THE OTHER BANK IS OPEN FOR SERVICE ON WEDNESDAYS FROM 1:00 TO 3:30PM UNTIL JUNE 26, 2019 AT FRIENDSHIP HALL AT YWCA (220 Union Ave SE, Olympia).
The YWCA’s Other Bank offers personal hygiene products, making it possible for low-income families to gain the confidence to address the bigger things in life. Want to be part of making change possible for people in our community? Support the Other Bank by donating WishList items which can be dropped off Mon-Thurs from 9-4 at 220 Union Ave SE in Olympia. PS: Unscented items strongly preferred.
